Sail and overnight anchorage

Do you dream of cruising between the skerries and islets of the archipelago, and dropping anchor for the night in a secluded creek? Our proficient skippers welcome you aboard their yachts to guide you safely through the labyrinth of islands to discover the gems of the Stockholm archipelago!

Bring along family and friends, let the wind propel you between hundreds of islands, and get lulled to sleep after a full day of nature and all of its impressions.

On the first morning we meet in the harbour at 9 am where your skipper welcomes you aboard to get acquainted with each other and the boat.  Once everyone is familiar with the safety procedures onboard, we are off to set sail!

Together with your skipper, we will plan your tour together onboard – a peaceful tour in sheltered waters or a more adventurous sail to test your limits? Whatever you decide, your skipper will make sure that you are safe and that you are provided with all the information and knowledge with regard to the art of sailing. Most likely, we will stop for lunch in a sheltered bay, and if you wish you can go for a swim in the clear fresh waters.

After lunch, we continue sailing towards our planned anchorage for the night – a sheltered natural harbour. Our skippers always adapt the choice of anchorage to the weather and to the requests of our guests.

Weather permitting, we can have the option of having a barbecue on a cliff, enjoying our meal and the view of the archipelago over an open fire. Otherwise we can spend a cosy evening in the boat sharing sailing stories by the glow of the kerosene lamp before we fall asleep after a full day of sailing.

The next day we start at 8 am – or earlier if you wish – to get another full day of sailing as we make our way back towards Dalarö. We can set sail early and drop the anchor for lunch, or we can spend the morning walking and swimming before heading straight back. It’s up to you! Whatever you choose, we promise to bring you back to the jetty in Dalarö on time.

Not quite ready to go back? If you wish, you can extend your tour by just adding another day, and another and another… The more days you book, the further out we will bring you into the fascinating world of the archipelago, and the more vivid your experience will be!

About our boats and skippers

When you go sailing with Vind o Vatten you meet skippers who are passionate about what they do, who own the boats they sail and who nourish a close relationship with the Stockholm archipelago. They are well educated and experienced, each one having a Ship’s Officer Class VIII certificate with decades of experience sailing in the archipelago, sail racing and offshore sailing.

You will be sailing a well-equipped and comfortable size boat of 35 or 40 feet. These boats are fast and fun to sail, without being too lively or difficult to handle. Since we sail our own boats, we know them inside and out and are fully aware of the possibilities and limitations of each vessel. We provide wind- and waterproof clothing on all tours as well as comfortable life vests for each guest.

Read more about our boats and skippers.

Accommodation and food

On our overnight sailing tours with onboard accommodation, we can host up to four or five participants depending on the boat. Food is planned in consultation with the skipper, purchased in advance and billed at cost price. You bring your own sheets and towels, or rent them from your skipper, while blankets and pillows are provided on board.

Where to find us

Our tours start from Dalarö in the southern part of the Stockholm archipelago, or from Svinninge Marina in the central part of the archipelago just north of Stockholm. Both places are accessible by public transport and carparks are available.

The skippers will contact you beforehand to supply you with everything you need to know including meetup place and how to get there!

Welcome aboard!

Sailing tour with Birgitta
A very big highlight of our vacation
We sailed 6 hours or so with Birgitta mostly coaching us and allowing us to do the sailing with encouragement and guidance. We stopped in a small island harbor, ate a picnic we prepared, and we got to swim hike and pick blueberries. What a day to remember, we are coming back again for more instruction and fun. Thank you Birgitta – it is small compared to the good times we had!

Overnight sailing tour with Birgitta
Incredible overnight sailing experience with Birgitta. She’s an extremely knowledgeable skipper and teacher. I had zero sailing knowledge going in but came away with a basic understanding of sailing and a new great love for the craft and the archipelago. Perfect for individuals of any levels, cannot recommend enough.

Fantastic and unforgettable!
We are 3 Swiss people who love to sail and have always wanted to experience the Stockholm archipelago on a sailboat. Karin from Vind o Vatten made this possible. Her sailboat is moored in the port of Dalarö, a sailor’s paradise that is a 45-minute drive from Stockholm. Shortly after 10 a.m. we started – well “packed” in Karin’s sailing gear – on a 6-hour sailing tour around the island of Nämdö. Thanks to the good wind (it seems like there’s almost always wind here!) we were able to moor in a small bay and eat something for lunch. Karin is not only fluent in French and English, she is also an extremely interesting woman. We would highly recommend this sailing tour to anyone wanting to explore the archipelago.

Stellar Outing
Sailing with Birgitta on the Esmeralda 2 was the most memorable time of my 5 days in Stockholm. The boat is tip top and her attitude is totally cool. Birgitta’s knowledge of the archipelago is encyclopedic but she totally gets that sailing is about listening to and watching the wind and water so you have to ask questions to get the full benefit of her wisdom! I would do it again in a heartbeat.

An unforgettable trip
We went on a sailing trip with Birgitta on her beautiful boat « Esmeralda 2 ». We went around Dalarö and then the second day we sailed till Utö. It was very easy to sail and take an active role on the boat as Birgitta explained everything very clearly. She also had organized the trip in a way so we can get the most of the Archipelago : fine deli for lunch, dinner at a fancy restaurant and breakfast at a typical bakery with lots of delicious pastries. Birgitta has also been very helpful recommending things we can do while in the Archipelago. It was a unique and unforgettable experience for the whole family. I highly recommend it!

Sailing All Inclusive

Sailing All Inclusive

The Big Chlll, Linjett 40

Sailing All Inclusive

Three days sailing (or more) and All Inclusive for the whole family or a group of friends on board a comfortable Linjett 40 or the smaller Linjett 35. Let your skipper guide you to the hidden gems in the Stockholm archipelago! On this tour, departure and return begin and end at 5 pm. Food, sheets and towels are provided for all guests onboard.

We start in the afternoon of the first day at 5 pm and after a review of the boat we set sail to an island nearby. Dinner is eaten while we are underway in the cockpit. We will anchor relatively late on the first evening, around 8-9 pm, and after having found a safe and secluded creek, we will crawl into bed for a good night’s sleep.

The next day we get up at 8 am – or earlier, if you wish – to get a full day’s sailing. We set sail towards the outermost islands, weather permitting.  All of our sailing tours are adapted to the weather and to the requests and experience of our guests. Most likely we will stop in a peaceful and quiet bay for a swim and some lunch. In the evening we anchor in a sheltered natural harbour or marina if you wish to have access to more services. If weather permits, we can make a barbecue on the cliffs and enjoy the view, otherwise we’ll spend a cosy evening in the boat, telling sailing stories by the glow of the kerosene lamp. There is nothing like sailing all day for a good night’s sleep!

On the last day, we will put in as much sailing or as much leisure as you wish before heading back towards Svinninge/Dalarö to arrive at 5 pm. We can set sail early in the morning and drop anchor for lunch, or we can spend the morning walking and swimming before heading straight back. It’s up to you! Whatever you choose, we promise to bring you back on time.

Esmeralda II is a Linjett 35, slightly smaller than The Big Chill, and can accommodate up to four guests. Her sailing characteristics are similar, and the boat is a pleasure to sail. Esmeralda II is owned and skippered by Birgitta, who owns Vind o Vatten.
